The General Assembly is meeting today, and considering Gov. Rell’s deficit reduction plans among other things. Here’s what’s happening:
- The bottle bill is back. At issue is a DEP interpretation of the law which basically doesn’t allow distributors access to the money from unclaimed deposits. I honestly don’t feel very sorry for them after the intense lobbying they did to kill the original bill.
- The renomination of Judge Patricia Swords hangs by a thread in the Senate after approval in the House. Senate Democrats are not supporting her now that complaints that she too often favored prosecutors has surfaced. We’ll see if she returns to the bench.
- A preliminary look at the deficit bill shows that at least some elements were removed by Democrats.
More as it happens.
