  1. Several leaders and members in SEBAC, the coalition of State public service workers unions, are attending the inauguration. We issued a press statement earlier today to advise that the President of one our unions was available for comment, and it included her observations:

Carmen Boudier, president of the largest union representing health care workers in Connecticut, and a representative of the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC), is in Washington, D.C. to take part in today’s historic event.

“This is a critical time for our country,” says Boudier, the President of New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199/SEIU. “In Connecticut, we know we are facing one of the most significant financial challenges of our lifetime. I will return inspired by our new President’s message of cooperation and optimism as we confront the economic crisis that has pounded our state.”

She added, “We have all heard the divisive rhetoric about unions and public service workers over the past few weeks. We hope that today will mark a new chapter in how we work together to improve the lives of all our workers and families in Connecticut and welcome a discussion that is based on fairness, respect, and mutual trust.”

Nothing like witnessing history in the making!
