Beck vs. Blumenthal

For some reason Richard Blumenthal went on Glenn Beck’s show, and was called an “insult to George Washington” and accused of having vampire fangs by the wild-eyed, temperamental host. Blumenthal didn’t do so well. This clip comes from the Business and Media Institute, which gleefully took down some of the transcript as well.

  1. … we are not [a respecter] of men.

    — Glenn Beck

Did Dick Blumenthal ever watched even 15 seconds of this jackass prior to his appearance on this program? Because it never takes more than 15 seconds for him to interrupt and lambaste the guests he disagrees with. It’s unwatchable.

Is Glenn Beck related to Dick Morris?

They remind me of each other…

  3. What a staggering, colossal, abject failure of staff work on every level. I have to agree: Did Dicky even know what he was getting into?

One thing is certain: It confirms the well-worn trope about Blumenthal. Compare his 11-minute, 30-second segment with Malloy’s, which (as I recall) lasted far less: Malloy (much as I think he’s a dingleberry — and I do, oh, I do) is enough of a streetfighter that Beck cut off that bit pretty quick.

Blumenthal’s public emasculation went on for almost 12 excruciating minutes because he’s too much of an oily PR man and not enough of a legal expert (his ostensible job) to know when to get out of the line of fire.

Pretty much answers — once and for all — why Dick doesn’t run for offices where he might actually have to campaign.

    “unwatchable”???

We’ve been replaying it over and over again here; we just love it.

Heck it’s even better than watching Dan turn purple at the very mention of recarpeting the entire city with astro-turf.

  5. They remind me of each other…

You’re right, a couple a brighter than average guys for sure.

  6. RedFive –

Isn’t Beck a bona fide wack job? If memory serves, Beck went berserk at a hospital in Fairfield County, and they may have had to put him in a straitjacket. Police, the whole nine. If I had the time I’d dig this up.

Malloy has never been on Beck.

I think you are thinking of this:

  7. Here is more of the ignorant lunatic Glenn Beck:

That people watch this – never mind take him seriously in any way, shape, or form – is kinda troubling.

  8. Ugh, there was a time when Fox News was actually watchable. Similarly, Glenn Beck was actually occasionally fun to listen to on the radio. All of things were a long time ago. Now they are both disgraces to American journalism.

…which is what makes the Attorney General’s performance all the more embarrassing!!! Come on, you couldn’t stand up to Glenn Beck? Give me a break.

Now, I’m not a legal scholar and I wouldn’t purport to know the inanities of contract and commercial law in this state or any other. That being said, I’ve got to imagine that there’s SOME intelligent response to the question so seemingly obvious that the dim witted likes of GB could think about what laws we’re trying to enforce in inquiring into this matter. A matter of public policy? Really? You’re the Attorney-flippin’-General. Your only job is to know and interpret the laws of the state. Someone asks you for legal justification of your actions and you tell them that it “ought” to be against the law? This is really disgusting.

Blumie got slammed. He had to admit that he was proceeding against AIG even though it and its workers broke no law. That is an excellent position for the chief law enforcement officer of the state.

Fun video of Stephen Colbert having another laugh at Glen’s expense.
