Dodd Challenger on "Face the State" This Sunday

Democrat Roger Pearson of Greenwich, a potential primary challenger to Sen. Chris Dodd, will be appearing on WFSB’s “Face the State” this Sunday at 11:00am. He’ll be talking about why he’s thinking of challenging Dodd.

Also appearing will be Rep. Joe Courtney to talk about the stimulus, and I will also be appearing to offer analysis of the Senate race. Tune in!

  1. Is this guy at all credible? Does he have Lamont like cash to spend on the race?

Also, Face the State is so ridiculous I can’t even watch anymore. Denis House is far more interested in himself than in asking tough questions. It seems like he is far more interested in being friends with politicians when they are in studio because its easier for him to ask tough questions about those same politician to a panel later on.

With newspapers on life support the folks who still have a venue should use it.

This is the 2006 blog for Blumenthal. Maybe ‘Now more than Ever’

    Anyone want to rejuvenate it?

    Drafting Blumie’s a great idea.

A couple of years in the service wouldn’t hurt that lightweight egomaniac one bit!

    Oh…..that’s not what you meant?

  4. Unless and until Chris Dodd opts out, this (and any other) “challenger” is a pushcart on the midway.

Hey ACR, why do you keep going there?

Yes, Blumenthal served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Unlike you.

Don’t make me stop this car Scooper; if I have to stop this car one more time you kids are really in for it!

BTW – What branch did you serve in?

What’s going to happen when the polls start pitting Simmons vs. Dodd, and Simmons vs. Blumenthal?

If Dodd is behind a good 10%, and Blumenthal ahead 15-20%, there will be plenty of noise made by Democrats everywhere.

Dodd sticking around is by no means a foregone conclusion, although I think he’ll be given well into the fall, as no one wants him to be a lame duck during this important legislative session.

Me, I worry that the CT GOP is holding back on “Cottage-gate”, and that there might have been major renovations to the property shortly before or after the Dodd partnership took title in 1994.

Otherwise, I hope Dodd goes populist, rebounds in the polls, and together Dems destroy either Simmons or Caliguiri.

However if Dodd’s numbers continue at or below 40%, it will be time to draft Dick, or Susie B. This situation is somewhat unique, b/c we have both those two with more votes and better numbers than even Governor Rell.

We’re having a prayer session at the GOP for just that!

It’ll be led by the Rev. Glenn Beck.

  9. Scoop… you’re being far too logical. For your party’s sake, you should keep pressing.

As for Dodd becoming a populist, we’ll see.

I certainly hope this isn’t part of the thought process, but Washington’s Revolving Door is well-known. My guess is that populists don’t fare well there.

Thanks ACR, and of course we’re praying for a Republican primary, because if Simmons keep hanging around with the Tea Party crowd, Dems could run Joe Ganim and still win.

  11. What’s going to happen when ….

Nothing in your comment is necessarily at odds with mine.

Just to add a bit of color, unless and until Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer President Obama decides there is a better way for Chris Dodd to serve his country, …

  12. AndersonScooper

Hey, I agree. The decision will in all probability belong to Dodd alone.

I’m just saying there will be a lot of grassroots grumbling if in October it looks like Dodd might lose a seat that Blumenthal or Bysiewicz could easily hold.

Plus this whole Dodd-Simmons mess could cost us a lot down-ticket…

Hmm… it’s quite possible that Blumenthal could do less harm in the Senate than as a shoot from the hip err mouth AG.

Mr Pearson was somewhat inarticulate on tv this morning….perhaps he was nervous…in any event, he was very commanding to me as a top notch senate candidate.

    i meant wasnt very commanding
