Tired of the front pagers hogging the limelight? Have an issue you’d like to talk about that we’re ignoring? Well, you’re in luck. CTLP is now accepting submissions for Sunday Speakout, which will function sort of like an op-ed page in the newspaper in that anyone can submit. We’ll publish the best pieces on Sundays with whatever name (commenter name, real name, etc.) you like attached. We do reserve the right to edit pieces for grammar and clarity. Some guidelines:
Who can submit a piece?
What topics are acceptable?
Anything having to do with Connecticut politics. No national stuff, please, unless there’s an obvious Connecticut tie-in.
How long should the piece be?
Blog-length, please. That means 200-1,000 words is an acceptable range, though 300-500 words is best.
I don’t know HTML!
Don’t worry about it. Just indicate where you want various styles to begin and end, like boldface, italics, lists or blockquotes. If you want to quote an article, try to keep it short and do provide a link.
I do know HTML
Good. Submit the HTML and we’ll post it.
I want to include pictures
Send them along, and we’ll put them in the post.
Will comments be enabled for the post?
Yes. Please expect that!
Obviously, pieces that are just slander or the usual attacks won’t be published. I’d much rather see something thought-provoking and interesting. Views published in Sunday Speak Out are those of the authors, and not necessarily the views of Connecticut Local Politics.
Send submissions to ctlocalpolitics(at)gmail(dot)com. Put your piece in the body of the email.
