As many as 1,200 teaching jobs may be lost in Connecticut this year.

Lots of intrigue among Middlebury’s Republicans.

Lastly, the governor and legislative leaders are scheduled to meet about the budget today. Will anything come of it?

What else is going on?

    Where’s that stimulus money?

  2. How about this one:
Peter Schiff raised 800,000 for a potential candidacy in less than a month but it’s nowhere to be found in the local newspaper.

It would be front page were he a Democrat, Green Party, anything even vaguely left of center.

But since he’s not; if it gets picked up at all the headline will be something like this:
Schiff Campaign Misses Mark in So Called `MoneyBomb’

GC…Anne Wexler died in DC …..there should have been a post about her as she was super important to CT in the 60’2 and 70’s and went on the become a top official and lobbyist in Washington.

It was so predictable how Schiff was attacked on MSNBC. It doesn’t matter if guys like Schiff or Paul have a libertarian bent because as long as they run as Republican’s, they will always get beat up by the far left media.

There are 50,000 teaching positions in Connecticut, so this represents 2.4% of the total. So as for the number of teachers that actually lost their job, it was probably what, a third to half this size, with the rest being made up for through normal retirements.

You’re correct, the woman deserves at least a tip of the hat.

NORWICH, CT- It’s less than ninety days before City Council elections on 3 November and for the first time since Charter Revision in 2001 produced a smaller at-large City Coucnil, the two ‘established’ parties, Republican and Democratic, will face a THIRD party, “Norwich For Change” (http://www.norwich4change.com), fielding a mayoral candidate, Bob Zarnetske ( http://www.z4mayor.com/) as well as three prospective alderpersons.

In addition to Peter Nystrom (R) and Mark Bettencourt (D) and Zarnetske, local businessman Joseph Radecki is also seeking the office of Mayor.

Zarnetske, who spoke at the April 15th Norwich TEA Party, hosts a “Tax Forum” Thursday night at Olympic Pizza, 372 West Main Street in Norwich,
http://www.z4mayor.com/media/Tax$20Forum$20Flyer$20081009.pdf,as another in his series of neighborhood outreaches, this time as part of a discussion on his economic development plan that one opponent dismissed as “55 piece of paper” but who, as of yet, hasn’t offered so much as one page of his proposal,on economic development or anything else.

Traditionally elections heat up after Labor Day in SE Connecticut, though it looks like it’s a few degrees warmer than usual in the last weeks or so. Voter turnout may prove to be a key in a city where traditionally less than 22% of the registered voters show up in a non-Presidential election year.
