Rules for Commenting

I am, in the interest of banning a lot of trolls and making this place livable for a while, I am adopting these amazingly sensible rules.

This site has rule #2 for commenting, which states in part…”insulting, belittling or otherwise maliciously maligning them is not” (acceptable commenting). Generally, when I read comments as mean-spirited as those recently posted about Caruso, I don’t know what prompted the writers to hold such angst against someone. Secondly, when I read the rules for commenting so that I can write this, I wonder other things about the posters ability to research the subject matter, when simple rules can’t be followed, or thoughts can’t be expressed logically, rather than spitefully.

I think you might have a point in there somewhere. Please think about this some more and repost tomorrow morning after tonights festivities wear off.

  3. Depending on how it is interpreted your “#6 No racist, homophobic or sexist remarks. Obviously,” may be incongruous with your stated goal of being non-partisan. Is The Bell Curve racist? Is Don’t ask, don’t tell homophobic? Is Lawrence Summers sexist?
